Tahoe Backcountry Ski Patrol Beacons, Radios and Coffee – Tamarack Peak Mt

TBSP is offering  coffee, conversation, and hands on opportunities at their Coffee and Beacon events.

The radio program aims to provide a life-saving connection in such events with designated radio channels assigned to different popular backcountry zones.Although a new idea to the area, TBSP says it’s a good one and is working to promote radios as an essential, not optional, piece of equipment in the backcountry.

Radios and community channels put you in touch with people in the immediate area and the more people tune in, the more helpful they become.

In addition to learning about the radio program, participants have the opportunity to practice using their avalanche transceiver over a fresh brewed cup of coffee.

These coffee events provide a direct, yet approachable environment that sparks imperative safety conversations.
